Melissa MacDonald, APRN,CNP
Melissa started her nursing career as a nurse’s aide in 1992. She went on to further her education and became a nurse in 1996, at which point she started working in the critical care unit at Mercy Hospital in Aurora. Since that point in her career, she found a passion for working with cardiology patients, helping them take care of their heart. She decided to again further her career by going back to school at Northern Illinois University in under and postgraduate to become the nurse practitioner she is today. She continued working for the cardiology service line at Mercy until she decided she wanted to do even more for her patients. She was hired by Dr Tomasian in a practice in McHenry. When he came to work with us and we needed a nurse practitioner to join our team, he again asked Melissa and she was happy to join us!
Melissa believes that it is important to team up with her patients to find the best treatments for them. She never wants you to leave the office without her answering all your questions. She truly cares about your health – heart and mind!
In her free time, family and friends come first. Well…. first after her cats! She enjoys traveling and live music. Put her in front of the water on a beach and she will be in her happy place.
Through her years of practice, Melissa has learned many important things. One of the most important things she has learned is that everyone has a story. People go through hard times in their lives and we may not always understand, but it is critical to take this into consideration in all interactions with other people.
Melissa looks forward to working with you to be in the best heart health possible. She will see you soon!
