Dr. Sharma is a native of Illinois and has been a partner with Illinois Cardiovascular Specialists since 2001. With extensive experience in cardiovascular medicine, he specializes in interventional cardiology and the diagnosis and treatment of peripheral arterial disease.
His clinical expertise includes minimally invasive peripheral vascular interventions, such as angioplasty, stenting, and atherectomy, to help restore blood flow and manage vascular conditions.
Dr. Sharma is also dedicated to community education and enjoys opportunities to speak with patients and the public about cardiovascular health. Outside of medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family, following sports, and traveling.
Education & Training
Dr. Sharma earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois in 1990, then attended Loyola University Chicago, where he earned his Doctor of Medicine in 1994.
He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at Loyola University Medical Center in 1997, followed by his Cardiology Fellowship in 2000. He completed his Interventional Cardiology Fellowship in 2001, serving as Chief Interventional Fellow.
Board Certifications & Academic Contributions
Dr. Sharma is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, and Endovascular Medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine.
He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI).
Dr. Sharma has participated in cardiovascular research involving coronary interventions, vascular medicine, and cardiovascular treatment outcomes. His academic contributions include research abstracts submitted to the American College of Cardiology and participation in clinical investigations involving coronary stenting, anticoagulation, and vascular function.
